Seasonal Employment in Belgium
During spring, summer and autumn there is seasonal work to be done in vegetable and fruit farming in Belgium. You can pick, sort and prune.

Vacancies
You can find vacancies under the jobdatabank and via the job computers, to be found all over Flanders.
Search by key words like 'aardbeien', 'bessen', 'frambozen', 'kersen', 'krieken', 'appelen', 'peren', 'tomaten', 'komkommers', 'paprika's', 'asperges' of 'seizoen'. Please also type the region of your choice.
You can also publish your résumé in the “résumé-databank”. That way employers may contact you. Fill in ‘arbeider tuinbouw' or 'fruitplukker' as main occupation.
Conditions
A 'form for occasional work’ (provided by your employer) entitles you to work for 65 days per year. One working day consists of 11 hours maximum, one working week of 50 hours maximum.
Moreover, you have to work with a contract for seasonal employment (daily contracts). A written contract is not necessary.
Who
- Everyone in Belgium, who is legally entitled to work and in a good fysical condition is eligible.
- You have to be older than 15 though.
- All employees of the ‘EER-countries’ are allowed to work in Belgium under the same conditions as the Belgians (free exchange).
Formalities
Your first employer provides you with a ‘form for occasional work’. Furthermore, you need to register with the ‘registry office’ and with the ‘National health Service’.
Travel Expenses and Accomodation
Travel expenses for your own car (> 5 km) and bicycle. A possibility to stay overnight is also provided at most fruit farmers.
